2022 National Innovation and Design Awards: a day to remember

The King and Queen of Spain presented the National Design Award to Enea at the Niemeyer Centre in Aviles (Asturias)

Last September, Enea received the 2022 National Design Award. This is granted by the Ministry of Science and Innovation, and is the highest recognition for the design industry in Spain. In the words of the ministry, Enea received the award “in recognition of a four-decade trajectory as a solid national and international reference in the world of furniture design”.

Last Monday, the National Innovation and Design Award ceremony took place at the Niemeyer Centre in Aviles. Our colleague Nerea Caminos, Enea’s Director of Finance and People, received the award from the hands of the King and Queen of Spain; a moment that we will never forget. The ceremony was also attended by the Science and Innovation Minister Diana Morant; the president of the Principality of Asturias Adrian Barbon; and the mayor of Aviles Marivi Monteserin.

The other winners included Rocio Arroyo, Sacyr, and Marine Instruments in the Innovation category; and Inmaculada Bermudez and Alba Gonzalez in the Design category; with a special mention to Emilio Garcia and Servicios Digitales de Aragon. We would like to congratulate all of them; it’s a been a real pleasure to be recognised amongst such talented people. In addition, a round table was held during the event, in which our design furniture took centre stage, specifically our 4-star Kaiak Lounge and our new Taber table.

We are incredibly thrilled by this award, which motivates us to keep working with the same distinguishing features as when we started in 1984: innovation, durability, contemporary design, and sustainability. And, above all, this award reinforces our mission to design and manufacture furniture inspired by people’s lives.

We would like to thank all the people who are or have been part of this project, as this award would not have been possible without them: those who have collaborated with Enea (designers, distributors, consultants, architects, etc.); as well as all those who have placed their trust in us.
